Smith Power Products, the mtu Distributor for New Mexico, is seeking applications for Field Service Technicians to operate and live in the Hobbs area.
The Field Service Technician works with minimal direct supervision in diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing mtu engines and related heavy equipment at the customer’s site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Administrative:
Maintains truck and crane inspection logs on a daily basis. Completes and complies with DOT log rules. Completes service reports daily that are legible and have proper grammar and sentence structure, and transmits photos, timecards, service reports, and other information through e-mail. Maintains good customer records on jobs that have been assigned. Maintains expense receipts for accounting purposes.
Organizational:
Works with the Parts Department, Field Service Coordinator, Product Support Representatives, and Sales Department to meet all of the customer’s needs.
Interpersonal:
Communicates with customers on the diagnosis and status of repairs, parts, and other concerns. Teaches and coaches other technicians in the field. Communicates customer issues to Field Service Coordinator.
Sales:
Promotes Smith Power Products and the products we sell and service.
Technical:
Accurately troubleshoots and repairs equipment the first time. Completes job within reasonably expected labor guidelines. Reads, understands, and applies electrical and hydraulic schematics to repair work. Safely rigs or hooks components for lifting. Removes, repairs, and installs major components in varying configurations of equipment. Maintains tooling in good working order as per MSHA and OSHA regulations. Makes determinations in the field on warranty repair and guidelines, in coordination with Field Service Coordinator, and communicates with customer during decision making process. Maintains service vehicle in safe and good repair. Pre-plans and schedules truck services/safety inspections with foreman.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or GED and Relevant accredited courses
Minimum Experience Preferred: Five + years’ experience servicing mtu Engines
Administrative / Clerical Experience – Basic Level
Customer Service Experience – Intermediate Level
Sales Experience – Intermediate Level
Technical or Mechanical – Advanced
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations Required: DOT Health Card, Class A Driver’s License (preferred) and MSHA 5023 Certification (preferred).
